What Men Get When They Show Up for Boys

This workshop is about man-making and all the gifts that accrue to men who choose to step forward to help boys on their journey to manhood. It is powerfully motivational because it reminds men of what they already know to be true about mentoring relationships. It also gives men a wide variety of simple and practical tools to make man-making relationships with a boy or boys successful.

In this program:

We will explore what boys and men have lost over the last few generations as men have lost touch with the roles of mentor and initiator for the boys of their "tribe."

We'll discuss some of the normal fears and barriers men have to face in order to support a boy on his journey toward manhood.

Men will discover that regardless of their level of commitment, there is something they can do to make a difference in a boy's life.

We'll consider a wide variety of ways a man can show up for a boy, how boys hold the keys to a man's "mature masculinity," and the many surprising and varied gifts waiting for men who find the courage to step forward.

By listening to men's stories, we will remember how men have shaped boys' lives through history. We will explore the transformational power in those mentoring relationships, and consider the attributes of a successful male mentor.

If a man is the least bit willing to consider showing up for a boy or boys in some way, he will leave this session with a solid "how to" prescription and the motivation to get started.
